Meet Justin Jamis

I am eager to meet you and excited as we prepare to embark on our journey in ministry together. As w15697433_10207354112720700_1237347310230214250_ne begin I wanted to share a little bit about my family and me.

I am a Kansas boy, born and bred. I grew up in Wichita and love the people and beauty of Kansas. My passions are coffee, soccer, music, people and the God who holds all things together. I went to Friends University, played soccer, and studied religion and philosophy. At Friends, I met and married my college sweetheart Krysha, and we have have five beautiful children, Addyson [12], Kellen [10], Norah [7], Rhys [6] (pronounced Reece), Quinn [5], and newborn Miriam. Our family is a little bit crazy and one of the places I experience the Love of God most fully! We are passionate about Books, Sports, Movies, Board Games and Dora the Explorer. I look forward to sharing my family with you and cultivating a great big family through K-State Wesley.

While at Friends I was part of the campus ministry as a participant and student leader. Campus ministry taught me that faith is formed incarnationally, relationally and communally. I experienced God’s love through people who cared enough about me to walk beside me through the ups and downs of life and put flesh and blood to the reality of God’s loving presence. These relationships have taught me that God’s love meets us where we are and never leaves us where it found us!

These formative experiences helped me discern my calling and gave the courage to follow God. For the last ten years I have been in ministry and loving it. I am United Methodist with a passion for Grace, Discipleship, Community and Transformation. I spent three years as a Youth Pastor at Trinity Heights UMC in Newton, Kansas. I love the honesty, curiosity, boldness and passion that students have. During that time I discerned a call to ordained ministry and my family moved to Dubuque, Iowa, where I studied and served as pastor from 2007-2011. For the last three years I have had the privilege of serving Pleasant Hill UMC a remarkable church family in Topeka where I have learned in deeper ways what it means to love God and others.

The Jamis clan is looking forward to the next steps on this journey and we are excited to be part of the K-State Wesley family! Our hope and prayer is that K-State Wesley is a place where already and not-yet Christians can BELONG just as they are, where all people can learn and come to BELIEVE the good news of Jesus Christ. And together we BECOME the people God intends for us to be by the power of the Holy Spirit. We look forward to meeting and getting to know you and we invite you to friend request Krysha and me on Facebook.

Peace,
Justin
